Where to meet product managers in SF — events ranked (2026)
Sam Carter ranks the SF events with the highest density of senior product managers in 2026 — meetups, dinners, conferences, and where the actually-good PMs hang out.
If you're hiring product managers in SF, raising from PM-led funds, or just want to be in rooms with senior PMs, the question is which events have actual density versus which are PM-branded but light on actual PMs. After spending a year working the SF PM event circuit and asking other PMs what they actually attend, here's the ranking.
For the live SF calendar, the SF this-week feed does the aggregation work.
The flagship picks
Mind the Product SF is the closest thing to a flagship PM event in the city. Strong speaker line-up, broad PM crowd, real Director-and-above presence. Worth the ticket. The conference-scale events have legitimate signal density for senior PMs.
ProductCon SF is the bigger-conference format. Broader audience. Useful for one-shot dense PM signal — meet many PMs in one week — but lower per-attendee depth than the smaller events.
The AI-PM circuit
The biggest shift since 2024: a meaningful slice of senior PMs in SF rotated into AI-product roles. They show up at:
AI Tinkerers SF — builders show, but a real slice of the room is AI PMs at the major labs and AI-first startups. The technical bar is real and the conversations are substantive. Application-based.
AI Tuesdays SF — mixed engineer/PM/founder crowd, but the PM slice is consistent. Lower bar to attend than AI Tinkerers, broader crowd.
Latent Space SF events — AI-podcast-adjacent. The applied-AI PM crowd shows up. Good signal for narrow AI-PM niches (eval pipelines, agent products, RAG).
The newsletter-and-community circuit
Lenny Newsletter and Lenny's podcast meetups — when Lenny runs an SF event, the room is dense with senior PMs. Application-based when over-subscribed. The newsletter's reach means the line-up is consistently strong.
Reforge community events — Reforge alumni and current students. Tilts toward growth and product-led-growth specifically. Senior crowd. Worth attending if you're a PM working on growth or activation specifically.
The community options
PMHQ events — PM-specific community events with reliable monthly cadence. Good for mid-level PMs, less so for senior. The format is friendly to first-time attendees.
The smaller PM dinners — Newcomer-style curated PM dinners are starting to happen in SF. Application-only, smaller, conversational. Apply with substance — generic blurbs get filtered.
The technical-PM options
Stripe Sessions and similar API-platform events are not PM-specific but the technical-PM crowd is dense. Worth a ticket if you're working on platform or infra products. The conversation skews technical, which suits PMs working on developer-facing products.
How to actually meet PMs at events
A few rules that work:
- Don't recruit in the first thirty seconds. The "are you looking?" lead-in marks you as a recruiter and most PMs disengage. Lead with what you're building. People with shared context surface naturally.
- Show up early. The first hour of any of these events is the conversation hour. The talks are honestly secondary.
- Bring a specific question. "What's the hardest product decision you made this quarter?" beats "what do you do" by a mile.
- Skip the conference badges. The badge is a permission slip to ignore the people you don't want to talk to. Most senior PMs do not work that way.
- Follow up via email or LinkedIn DM within 24 hours. The hit rate drops sharply after that.
What I'd actually attend across a quarter
If I were running my own playbook for a quarter:
- One Mind the Product or ProductCon (broad PM signal)
- Two AI Tinkerers SF events (deep AI-PM signal)
- One curated PM dinner if I could get into one
- Skip the rest unless I had a specific person to meet
The "go to everything" approach burns out by month two. The right approach is two regular meetups and one curated dinner per month.
What I'd skip
A few formats that aren't worth the time:
- LinkedIn-spam "PM Networking Mixer" events. The senior PMs do not show up.
- Generic "tech mixers" without a PM focus. Too broad.
- Anything requiring a $400+ ticket for "PM access." The PMs worth meeting are at the events listed above.
For the live SF calendar across all the events worth knowing about, the Rifio SF this-week feed is the cleanest aggregation. The PM circuit specifically is dense — pick well.

Lenny meetups when he runs them are mental, the senior PM density is unusual

don't recruit in the first 30 seconds is the real rule. PMs definately disengage when you do

Reforge community events skew product-led-growth-heavy, this matches my experience

good ranking. the small curated PM dinners are starting to happen and they're much higher signal than the big ones

rifio search across SF events found me three I'd missed for the AI-PM crossover

Latent Space SF events are exactly right for narrow AI-PM niches, the eval-pipeline conversation last month was great
