The Dublin startup scene in 2026: which meetups are actually worth knowing

Ruairí Walsh on the Dublin startup meetups worth your evening in 2026 — Dogpatch Labs, NDRC, Founders Tuesday, the AI Ireland group, and a handful of smaller ones that punch above their weight.

The Dublin startup scene in 2026 is in a strange place — more mature than people give it credit for, less concentrated than it was in 2018, and considerably more dispersed across the city now that the docklands isn't the only show in town. The meetups worth knowing have shifted accordingly. Below is the honest list of what's worth your evening in 2026, with a note on what each is actually for.

Founders Tuesday at Grand Canal Dock

The monthly Founders Tuesday evening at one of the Grand Canal Dock spaces is the most consistently useful meetup in the city right now. Format is short pitches from two or three founders in the room, a panel Q&A, then drinks. The crowd is a healthy mix of seed and Series-A founders, a few engineering leads from the bigger players in town, and a steady minority of recently-arrived London expats who've made the move.

It's small enough that you can actually meet people, and the bar afterwards is the actual point. RSVP early, it's been filling up since the new year.

Dogpatch Labs evenings

Dogpatch Labs runs a near-weekly programme of evening events at the CHQ space — fundraising panels, founder dinners, demo nights, the occasional visiting investor session. The quality varies depending on the speaker, but the room itself is consistently good and the network you build by being a regular is genuinely valuable.

Worth checking the public calendar weekly and dropping into one out of three.

NDRC and the accelerator-adjacent stuff

NDRC programming is more useful if you're early-stage and not yet in an accelerator. Open evenings, founder office hours, occasional pitch nights. The advantage is the talent and capital that flows through it — being known to the NDRC team has compounding value if you're at the right stage.

AI Ireland and the AI-specific groups

The AI Ireland community has a monthly meetup that's gotten properly good in the last twelve months. The crowd is a mix of applied-AI engineers from the larger Dublin tech offices, a few researchers from the universities, and a growing group of AI-first founders. Format is usually two short technical talks, then drinks. Worth attending if applied AI is your space.

There are smaller AI-specific groups too — a generative-AI-focused one that meets monthly, an MLOps group that's smaller and more technical. Both are listed in the wider Dublin tech calendar.

The investor and capital meetups

A few of the local investors run periodic founder-meet-investor evenings — Atlantic Bridge, Frontline Ventures, ACT Venture Capital and a handful of the angel networks. These are smaller, more curated, often invite-only or apply-to-attend. The signal is high if you can get in, but they're not the kind of thing you can drop in to without being known.

The honest play here is: become known via Founders Tuesday and Dogpatch first, then get invited to the smaller investor evenings.

The product and design meetups

Product Tank Dublin runs a monthly meetup that's consistently well-attended and the speakers are usually decent. The crowd skews PM and product-engineering rather than founder, which is useful if you're hiring or networking sideways rather than upwards.

UX Dublin does periodic events for the design crowd. Smaller, friendlier, the kind of meetup where the after-drinks last three pints rather than one.

The smaller ones worth knowing

A handful of less-publicised meetups punch above their weight in 2026:

  • The Founders Pub is an informal monthly drinks thing that rotates between pubs in the city centre. No talks, no agenda, just founders. Sound, low-pressure, the conversation is the point.
  • A monthly fintech meetup runs out of one of the docklands spaces and is the most useful single event for that specific space.
  • The Dublin Tech Summit crowd runs satellite events around their main programme that are smaller and more interesting than the main event itself.

What to skip

Most of the official trade-body events. The big sponsored ones with too many name badges and not enough conversation. Anything with "innovation" in the title that hasn't earned the word. The ones that overlap heavily with the corporate ecosystem are mostly for visibility, not for genuinely meeting people.

How to use the calendar

A useful approach: pick two regulars (Founders Tuesday plus one specialist meetup that fits your space — AI, fintech, product, design) and attend them every single time for six months. Drop into one Dogpatch evening per fortnight. Skip the rest unless you have a specific reason to be there. After six months you'll have a real network and you'll have wasted alot less time on rooms that didn't matter.

For a live filterable view of what's on in the Dublin startup calendar in any given week, the Dublin startup events page (city-switchable in the filter) pulls all the public meetups into one feed. Useful in particular for finding the smaller specialist groups that don't show up on the main accelerator calendars.

The wider picture

The Dublin scene has matured. The ratio of useful-meetup to filler is better than it was, and the social density is high enough that being a regular at two or three things will put you in front of most of the people who matter inside a year. That's the actual game — pick the right two or three, show up consistently, and the rest follows.

FAQ

Best Dublin meetup for an early-stage founder?
Founders Tuesday at Grand Canal Dock or the Dogpatch Labs evenings. Both are small enough to actually meet people.
Are the bigger industry events worth it?
Sometimes. The official ones (Web Summit-adjacent, Enterprise Ireland) are useful for visibility, less so for actual conversation.
